NSCN/GPRN, NSCN/GPRN-K (Niki) sign MoU

The Zeilad Zeliangrong Region of NSCN/GPRN and the Zeliangrong Region of NSCN/GPRN-K (Niki) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Rongdai Village in Nungba Sub-division of Noney district on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed under the aegis of the Olive Branch Mission during a programme themed “Strengthening Naga Unity through the Unity and Resolve of the Zeliangrong People.” The event drew a large gathering of community members, civil society organisations, and religious leaders.

The programme began with an invocation by Dr. Khwan Leo Gangmei, Pastor of Rongdai Baptist Church, followed by a welcome address by Rongdai Village Chairman Nathaniel Gangmei. Delegates from both organisations were introduced by L. Gonmei, Caretaker and Chief Administrative Officer of the Zeilad Zeliangrong Region.

Addressing the gathering, D.G. Robert, a member of the Collective Leadership of NSCN/GPRN, Zeilad Region, described the agreement as a reflection of “courage, wisdom and political maturity” shown by leaders of both groups. He said the decision to embrace reconciliation despite past differences demonstrated their resolve to place the interests of the Naga people above all other considerations.

Salemyang Gangmei, a member of the Collective Leadership of NSCN/GPRN, also spoke on the programme’s theme, highlighting the importance of unity among the Zeliangrong people in advancing the larger Naga cause.

The MoU was formally signed by authorised representatives of the Zeilad Zeliangrong Region, NSCN/GPRN, and the Zeliangrong Region, NSCN/GPRN-K (Niki), in the presence of civil society and church leaders. This was followed by an exchange of the signed documents, while the covenant prayer was led by Rev. M.G. Gangkhui, General Secretary of ZBCCNEI.

Several civil society and religious leaders delivered solidarity messages, welcoming the agreement as an important step towards reconciliation and urging both groups to sustain the spirit of unity in the interest of the Naga people.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from the Zeliangrong Region, NSCN/GPRN-K (Niki), followed by the closing prayer and benediction led by Kasumpou Gangmei, Zonal Secretary of Luangba Zone, RBCC.

The MoU is being viewed as a significant milestone in the Olive Branch Mission’s efforts to promote reconciliation and strengthen unity among Naga political groups in the Zeliangrong region.
