NPO issues warning to Kuki Community over seizure of items

Imphal, Nov 2:

The Grievances Cell of the Naga People’s Organization (NPO) in Senapati has issued a warning to the Kuki community regarding the recent seizure of commercial items belonging to a Naga woman at the Gamgiphai COTU gate on October 29, 2024. In a notice directed at the Kuki community, the NPO expressed concern that despite an agreement exempting all Naga community members from illegal taxation, incidents of harassment and unlawful taxation have continued to arise, breaching the mutual understanding between the communities.
In light of these grievances, the NPO has announced restrictions on all forms of commercial vehicular transportation in Kuki areas, effective immediately. They indicated that this action could escalate if the situation does not improve. The organization emphasized that these restrictions will remain in place until the Kuki community provides a sincere apology and demonstrates a commitment to uphold the agreement in both its letter and spirit.
