Notification for by-election of five (5) assembly constituencies spreading over 3 districts of the state of Manipur has been issued today.
13 state assembly seats are vacant at present , however, the Election Commission of India has announced by-election in only 5 vacant assembly seats of Wangoi, Lilong and Wangjing Tentha in Thoubal district, Saitu in Kangpokpi district, and Singhat in Churachandpur district as the remaining has election case pending at the court.
Polling in the five Assembly Constituencies will take place on November 7 between 7 am to 5 pm. And counting of the votes will be done on November 10 and the whole process of the by-election will be completed by November 12, 2020.
As per the notification, last date for filing of nomination paper is October 20, 2020 , while the date of scrutiny is scheduled on November 21 , 2020 at 11 am at the respective District Headquarters and Sub-divisional Headquarters of the constituencies. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 23, 2020 before 3 pm.
