Normalcy restored; non-locals sent back from relief camp; school, colleges to be reopened

Following the lifting of the curfew on non-locals police today sent back all the non-locals who were kept under tight security at three different places in Imphal East and West.Police source said that around 130 non-locals including women and children which have been kept at Dharmasala since the Student Wing of JCILP called curfew on non-locals were sent back to their respective areas. Similarly, those non-locals which were kept at Porompat relief camp have also been sent back.As of now each police stations have received directives from the state government for released of the JCILP members who are in police custody. A police source said that those which are in police custody are likely to release today evening and all formalities had been preceded.As for those ILP activists who were sent to judicial custody it is likely to take some more days as legal clearance is necessary. However, as assured by the Chief Minister to the representatives of the JCILP yesterday evening, the Chief Minister had given directives for their released before September 19, a source said.Meanwhile, shops and business establishment run by the non locals at Paona Bazaar, Thangal bazaar and other places have been open as usual. However, police continue to remain alert to foil any unwanted incident.On the other hand school and colleges which were closed due to the ongoing agitation will be opening from Monday. This was agreed during the talk between the member of the JCILP and the Chief Minister yesterday.
