Nonstop rain for around 24 hours submerged Valley areas of the state as drainage system completely failed

Imphal, May 18: The incessant rain in the last 24-hours has inundated various streets, highways and locality in greater Imphal area.
As drainage system at most part of the Imphal areas are completely failed most streets and High ways are flooded creating traffic jam at almost all roads. Road stretch between Singjamei Keithel to Kakwa witness the worst situation as vehicles jam and the roads remain flooded with no means to drain the rain water.
Almost all the drain constructed at the roadside of Tiddim Road, MI Road, NH 2 and Kangchup road at the cost of several 1000 crores rupees turns flop as it failed to serve its purpose 
The incessant rain also flooded most of the areas in Bishnupur District and Thoubal district. Almost all rivers including Imphal River, Nambul River, Iril River and Thoubal River are running above the danger level.
In Moirang Assembly Constituency around 200 dwelling houses including Fire Service and Police stations have been inundated. Vehicular movements were disrupted as some of the important inter-village connecting roads were under water since yesterday.
As the water level at Moirang area has been increasing rapidly, school authorities have announced holiday.
The situation at Chandrakhong under Heirok A/C in Thoubal district is also at alarming as most of the areas are flooded.
In Imphal West, As Maklang River breached around 100 of houses at the area are inundated under water leaving the villagers homeless. Another river called Khamenlog River also breached and inundated various houses at Lamboikhul, Uyumpok and Nongsum have been inundated. Report said that around Rs. 10 lakhs worth corps in various farm house of the area have been submerged under water.
In greater Imphal area almost all streets at Nagamapal, Sagolband, Keishamthong, Uripok and Keishampat, Kwakeithel, Singjamei have been flooded by the nonstop rain for around 24 hours have  submerged under water causing inconveniences to the local populace in large.
Interestingly, MB College at Palace Compound also submerged under water compelling the college authority to suspend classes.
