Nonganba murder case: We have full trust in our police investigating the matter – CM

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who is also in charge of the Home Department today said that his government has full trust in the state police team investing in the murder of Akoijam Nonganba Singh, who was found murdered mercilessly on February 12 at Changoubung Village in Kangpokpi district.
Replying to a calling attention motion raised by Congress MLA K. Ranjit Singh, in the ongoing state assembly session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who is also the leader of the house said that the government needs to give a moral boost to state police who are performing their duty with sincerity and dedication. He said that if the investigation lies limited due to the jurisdiction of power the state government is ready to hand over the case to National Agency like the NIA.
Congress MLA K. Ranjit, while raising the calling attention motion said that one among the suspect arrested by the police in connection with the killing identified as Moses Gonmei is told to be the Deputy Kilonser of NSCN-IM, while the one absconding, identified as Stephen is also told to be Kilonser of the NSCN-IM, an armed rebel group undergoing peace talk with the government of India.
MLA Ranjit questioned if there is any connection with the NSCN-IM to the murder of AK Nonganba who was also the son of one legislator late AK Laingam.
“Our police team led by a DSP of the Kangpokpi Police station have taken up a suo-motto case soon after the barbaric incident”, N. Biren said and added that the car along with the lady (Thokchom Sonia) who reportedly went out with the deceased Nonganba was also summoned and interrogated. Besides, the special investigation team of the case also arrested one suspect in the murder case on February 13, who happen to be Deputy Kilonser of NSCN-IM.
N. Biren said that as of now the police team are investigating whether there is any connection with the armed group NSCN-IM or not.
The Chief Minister while replying to the calling attention motion said that as far as the police team are doing their duty and in the progress, of the investigation, the government has not yet decided to hand over the case to NIA.
