No new case of OMICRON in Manipur – K. Rajo

Director, Health Services Dr. K. Rajo Singh in a press release stated that after the detection of one OMICRON case on 27th December 2021, there is no new case of OMICRON in Manipur till date. All primary and secondary contacts of the case have been traced and testing is going on. Three primary contacts have tested positive for COVID-19 and their samples have been sent for Whole Genome Sequencing to IBSD Takyelpat. Tracing and testing of secondary contacts is continuing, till date, no further positive case is found.
“As the Omicron variant is reported to be highly transmissible as compared to other variants of COVID-19, all are advised to adhere to COVID appropriate behaviour and wear masks mandatorily. Masks have been found effective against all variants of COVID-19. There is no need to panic. Instead let us keep ourselves and our communities safe. Please vaccinate, keep physical distance, hand hygiene and always wear masks. And rely only on information verified by the State Government”, it added.
