No mercy at private hospitals: Ex minister Tomba

Ex Minister Konsam Tomba (70) of Tangkham village, Khundrakpam P/s condemned inappropriate fees which are being charges at private hospitals in the state.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Tomba said that he has been consulting with the Senior Consultant Dr Dwijamani at Raj Medicity, North AOC regarding a stone case. While he was waiting for his turn to check up he fell at the iron rod chair which was laid inside the hospital and sustained injury on his right leg.
Creating new troubles for patients, he was advised to show his leg to a casualty doctor and when he did so he was asked to get a new ticket.
Causing more Tomba said that he took a new ticket for casualty. He was given four stitches and first aid for the leg injury. Later he met Dr Dwijamani regarding the stone issue and when he was about to leave Tomba was give a bill of Rs. 1030 by the hospital authority just for the leg injury treatment. Even though Dr Dwijamani advised the hospital authority to reduce the bill, Tomba said that the hospital authority asked to pay the full amount.
Tomba said that he went to meet the proprietor just to complain about the issue but he was not allowed to meet him. He left his phone no at the hospital authority asking for the proprietor to call him back, but Tomba said no one had called him back so far.
Tomba condemned the whole incident and said the hospital’s authorities and staffs should not commercialise.
