No let up in ILP protest

Even as the state government is working a way out to introduce a legislation to protect the indigenous people of the state various meira paibis and civil society organisations continue to stage protest at different places.Today too, members of the State Platform of Disable People’s Organisation staged a protest at Tera bazaar. The body is a conglomerate of Handicap Development Forum, Disable Development Manipur, Society for Disabled person Manipur, Thoubal District Disabled Association and the Deaf and Mute School Takyel. Various placards demanding implementation of ILP have been used.  A Representative of the body identified as MD Yunus Khan while speaking on the occasion expressed dissatisfaction towards the government delayed in introduction of the legislation demanded by the people. He said ILP like legislation is the need of the state and such a legislation has been demanded by the people of the state since the early eighties from time to time.Similar protest were also staged at Keishamthong Longjam Leirak Machin and Keishamthong Elangbam leikai by the women Meira paibis of the area.
