Common people harassed by both counter blockade and 10 days economic blockade; Police restrains for interference

Imphal June 19: Tough stand of the JAC formed against the passing of the 3 ILPS related Bills to continue the 10 days economic blockade and the mad retaliation from certain section of the people of the valley people enforcing the counter blockade has left many common people of both hill and valley region to extreme hardship.
At Hill district volunteers supporting the JAC’s 10 days economic blockade keep on checking vehicles coming towards Imphal and pull down goods and other materials at various area including Senapati, Kangpokpi, Mao gate, and at various places along the National Highway -2. Similar checking by volunteers, supporting the economic blockades along NH-37 at different places. Goods ferrying trucks coming towards Imphal had suspended service as taking risk would be a disaster, while many loaded trucks are reported to have been stranded at Mao gate on the other site of Nagaland. Many are reportedly stuck at Dimapur too.
On the other hand, fed up with the kind of economic blockade, large number of people at different area at valley region are imposing counter blockade by preventing transportation of goods and essential items to hill district. This reporter witnessed large number of women folk and club members checking vehicles and pulling down essential edible items from vehicles at Khonghampat and Pheidinga area. Police personnel were seen on gypsy but did not do anything to prevent the counter blockade supporter from pulling down the essential food items.
On the other hand large number of women folk today pulled down essential items and other goods transporting towards hill district at Khumbong area along NH-37 today morning. Police did not take any action to the counter blockade supporters.
Meanwhile the economic blockade supporter along Imphal Moreh road had reportedly allowed some vehicles belonging to some section of people from Moreh but did not allowed vehicles that transported goods towards Imphal.
It is 9th day, and state government had not spelled out a single announcement to the kind of problem that people of the region are facing due to the ongoing blockade of both sides. More surprising thing is that both at Hill and Valley area law enforcing agency have not been acting to stop the anti-social activities. Source said that hands of the police are tied with some informal order at Hill area and this resulted the police at valley to follow the same.
