No action taken up on re-engaged officials; AE continues to hold office in MI after superannuation

Imphal, May 16: Cabinet decision of the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led Government to discontinue re-engagement of retired Government employees in different departments, with the exception of some technical posts turn out to be another joke as no action is being initiated to any of the re-engaged officials.
The cabinet decision was adopted on April 3 and as of today there are no official reports of any re-engaged staffs being removed from their post.
The decision was taken considering opposition from different sections including Government employee associations on the ground that re-engagement of retired officials blocks promotion line of deserving junior officials. This was stated by the state government spokesperson Th. Bishwajit while replying to media query on April 3 evening.
On Imphal Times special investigation to find out the credential of the new government on their promises, it has been found out that various officers who were re-engaged after their superannuation are found occupying the office and government is still yet to initiate any action against them.
Among those officials re-engaged, one Assistant Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department, Govt. of Manipur who has been assigned as in-charge Executive Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department Division No. IV, who was supposed to retire from service on February 28, 2017 after attaining superannuation still continue to hold the office till today and as per document available with the Imphal Times the said person will continue to hold the office till February 28, 2018.
As per document with the Imphal Times, three Assistant Engineers of the Minor Irrigation Department L. Sharatchandra Singh, Kh. Jotin Singh and A Hemochaandra Singh were officially retired from their services on February 28, 2017, on attainment of Superannuation. Principal Secretary of Minor Irrigation department of the Government of Manipur issued an ordered regarding the matter.
Source, with the Imphal Times further said that before the issuance of the order for retirement of the 3 officers, the Chief Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department L.G. Singh requested the Principal Secretary to extend the service of K. Jotin Singh on the ground that there are no qualified officers to replace him.
In consideration to the request made by the Chief Engineer MI Department, Deputy Secretary, Minor Irrigation, Government of Manipur extended the service of K. Jotin for a period of 1 year, in an order dated December 22, 2016. (from 1/32017 to 8/2/2018)
With the strength of this order, K Jotin still continue to the hold the office as incharge Executive Engineer depriving the rights of other junior officers in their promotion line.
Imphal Times is revealing this one particular case and is preparing to expose more depending upon the action of the government.
