NIA arrests another suspect in 2024 Ningthoukhong murder case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another militant suspected to be involved in the brutal killing of four persons, including a father and his son, on January 18, 2024, at Kha Khunou, Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district.
The arrested suspect has been identified as Jamkhogin Guite, alias Jamkhogin Lupho or Pepsi, 26, son of (L) Songam Guite of Tolbung Village, PS Chakpikarong, Chandel district. He was taken to Guwahati by an Air India Express from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, around 5.50 pm yesterday.
According to NIA sources, on January 18, 2024, at approximately 3.50 pm, six militants from United Kuki National Army (UKNA), Kuki National Army (KNA), and Kuki National Front (KNF) allegedly attacked and killed four persons near the Kha Khunou Water Treatment Plant on the banks of the Khujailok River. The deceased were identified as Oinam Bamonjao, his son Oinam Manitomba, Thiyam Somorendro, and Ningthoujam Nabadip. Nabadip was reportedly tied up and killed with a dagger, an act allegedly recorded on video by the militants. The other three victims were shot at close range.
The NIA registered the case on February 9, 2024, and initiated a detailed investigation. Earlier, on June 8, 2024, Lunminsei Kipgen, alias Langinmang or Levis, 35, of Mamong Village, Churachandpur, was arrested as the first accused. Kipgen was previously involved in attacks on the DC and SP offices in Churachandpur and had sustained a gunshot injury to his leg.
