NG College teachers protest bomb threat at professor’s residence

Teachers of NG College held a sit-in protest today following the reported discovery of a bomb at the residence of Dr. Sagolshem Poireiton, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, at Konsam Leikai, Wangkhei, Imphal East.

The bomb was reportedly found around 6 am on Friday, following which a police team arrived at the spot and retrieved it.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Poireiton said the incident appeared to be an attempt to intimidate teachers and obstruct the college’s progress. He asserted that threats and intimidation against teachers should not be tolerated.

He appealed to the public to prevent further escalation and resolve the matter through dialogue and peaceful means, stressing that the issue concerned the welfare of the college, its teachers, students and the wider community rather than a personal dispute.

Dr. Poireiton also alleged that attempts were being made to tarnish the reputation of college teachers by portraying them as financially motivated. He maintained that teachers must be able to perform their duties and attend meetings without fear or obstruction.
