Imphal, Feb 4:
The newly recruited 10th and 11th Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) Riflemen delivered a spectacular performance during the 75th Republic Day celebrations in Imphal, leaving the audience in awe. Their combat skills and acrobatic displays received widespread appreciation from the people of Manipur. The selection process for these riflemen was hailed as one of the most transparent, free from favoritism and nepotism.
However, a closer examination of the recruitment process has raised serious concerns regarding age fabrication by certain candidates. Official records from the Election Commission of India (ECI) reveal discrepancies in the age details of one recruit, identified as Senjam Shyam Singh from Yairipok Top Chingtha in Andro Assembly Constituency.
According to the ECI’s voter list of 2002, Shyam’s was recorded as 30 years old. However, in the voter list of 2004, he is listed as 20 years old, in 2010 , he was again recorded as 30 years old in 2024, his age was recorded as 31 years old. This record suggested discrepancy and possible falsification of documents. Furthermore, the electoral records indicate that Shyam’s daughter is 23 years old, while his wife is listed as 44 years old. These inconsistencies point towards the possibility of fabricated age proof certificates being used during the recruitment process.
This revelation raises concerns that ineligible candidates may have unfairly secured positions, depriving genuinely eligible aspirants of their rightful opportunity. The need for a thorough investigation into this matter is paramount to uphold the integrity of the recruitment process.
Imphal Times has gathered additional evidence regarding similar cases of age fabrication in the recruitment process. It is imperative that the concerned authorities initiate an immediate inquiry to ensure justice for all deserving candidates. Failure to act on such issues may undermine the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh-led government’s commitment to corruption-free governance.
Imphal Times remains dedicated to uncovering the truth and will continue to report on this issue until justice is served.
