Imphal, May 12: The Minister for Social Welfare and Cooperation Smt. Nemcha Kipgen today inaugurated New Hostel Building of Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Imphal and Exhibition of Cooperative/SHG Products in the premises of the institute at Lamphelpat.
While delivering an inaugural speech as Chief Guest, the Minister gave a positive note that she will try her best to make Manipur the centre for Cooperative Institution in North East, India.
The Minister lauded ICM, Imphal for successfully rendering excellent services since its inception in 1988 for developing cooperative movement and self employment programmes in the state by conducting various training programmes. She further stated that the newly inaugurated 32-bedded hostel comprising of 16 rooms will be an added advantage to the institute to accommodate more participants for any training programmes conducted by the institute.
She highlighted that the institute has been catering to the needs of the training for the cooperative department and so far the institute conducted more than 80 training programmes with over 3000 participants. She urged the institute to further expand and work for the development of the cooperative movement in the state.
It can also be noted that the inaugurated exhibition of cooperative/SHG products comprises of 25 stalls altogether with handloom, handicrafts, and food items.
The inaugural function was attended by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha who is also the President, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) and Chairman, National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT) Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav as President while Secretary, NCCT Shri Mohan Kumar Mishra, Registrar, Cooperation Shri L. Nabakishore Singh and Joint Registrar, Cooperation Shri Michael Bepol Lamkang as Guests of Honour respectively
