NEIDP staged protest rally; memorandum submitted

Imphal, April 12: The North East Development Party (NEIDP) today staged a protest rally form the party office Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Imphal West till DC, Lamphal, Imphal West seeking re-counting of the votes polled in the 19- Patsoi Assembly constituency and demanded appropriate action against the Returning Officer of the election.
Speaking to the media persons, at the office of the NEIDP, Narengbam Bishorjit alleged that the Returning Officer (RO) of 19-Patsoi A/C have use the power given by the Election Commission of India (ECI) while counting the vote during the 11 Manipur Legislative Assembly election, 2017 doing many wrongful activities in the counting.  
In connection with the misuse of power by RO and violating all the election norms, rules and regulation, recounting of the vote result was already proposed to the Election Commission of India on March 12, 2017 he added.
Narengbam Bishorjit also said that NEIDP has waited for a month for positive response from the concern after the submission of the proposal of recounting of the election result.
Though NEIDP party strictly follow and respect the mandate of the public and Indian Constitution, today NEIDP took out protest rally and submitted the same proposal for recounting of the election result to DC, Imphal West as the party have met the tolerance limit, he added.
The proposal includes eight different points alleging the RO, Bench Clark of RO Naorem Joy Singh misusing the postal ballot, rejection of postal ballot paper who were in favour of NEIDP without giving any reasons, announce me EVM counting when the vote counting of the postal ballot was announce finish to the general public using loudspeaker as per the rules and regulation of ECI, confine of NEIDP election agent at RO and restrictions of free movement, announcement of round 1,2 and 3 result while the round 4 and 5 result was made publicized and the result was updated in electronic media that NEIDP (Keba) won by leading 36 votes against INC but the after a gap of around one and half hour report of INC as winner leading 124 vote against NEIDP in the fifth and final round was announce on which ground and how the there was only 114 wining vote of INC when RO handed the wining certificate. The whole scenario was vague and highly suspicious, he added.
Narengbam Bishorjit further said that keeping all the power misused by the RO, NEIDP have collected all the evidence and proof how RO and its culprit’s member manipulated the counting of the vote.
NEIDP appeals the concern and newly formed BJP government to take up the necessary action at the earliest to bring justice so that such act will not be repeated in the near future.
 A time of three days was also assured by the DC and hope a positive result will be put in front of the people of the state, he added.
The party also submitted the proposal to Chief Minister, Governor, and Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur.
