NEFIS strongly condemns the Mayang Imphal incident

Imphal, April 12: North-East Forum for International Solidarity(NEFIS) strongly condemns the Mayang Imphal incident  which occurred yesterday in Imphal West,Manipur. NEFIS strongly believes that certain nefarious forces are building communal pressure in the region, who want to destroy the social fabric of Manipuri Society.NEFIS calls for forming Peace Committees in the state, to collectively fight against these nefarious forces. These are difficult times and the communalizing of Manipur Society should be condemned by all the political parties as well as progressive members of Civil Society. The students of different universities in Delhi organized a Protest gathering at Jantar Mantar today, to condemn this communal incident. NEFIS convener, Chinglen Khumukcham called for forming Peace Committees to ensure confidence building measures, so that incidents such as this are not repeated. NEFIS condemns this communal incident and stands for unity among different communities of Manipur and North-East.
