NCST registers complaint on reported abduction of Naga tribal civilians in Manipur

A complaint filed by social activist Asem Roshan Singh of Mayang Imphal, Thana Wangkhei Leikai, Manipur, regarding the reported abduction and hostage-taking of Naga tribal civilians in Manipur has been officially registered by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).
According to information available on the NCST portal, the Commission has registered the matter under Diary No. 70012/IN/2026 and File No. NCST/ATY-4170/MN/19/2026-RO-SHLNG/RU-II on June 2, 2026.
The complaint was submitted before the Commission seeking intervention under Article 338A of the Constitution of India concerning reports of abduction, unlawful detention, and hostage-taking of innocent Naga tribal civilians amid the ongoing conflict situation in Manipur.
In his petition, Asem Roshan Singh urged the Commission to take cognizance of the matter, conduct an independent inquiry, ascertain the status and safety of the affected persons, recommend appropriate legal action against those responsible, and ensure protection of vulnerable tribal communities.
