A four-day-long National Tribal Film Festival and Carnival began at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. The festival is designed to screen 23 tribal films from nine states. The festival, part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations, will showcase tribal cinema, culture, and creative expressions from across the country’s diverse tribal communities.
The festival was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Manipur’s Chief Secretary, in the presence of Guests of Honour Anurag Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary; T Pamei, Commissioner Horticulture and Soil Conservation; Hungyo Warshung, Secretary Tourism and IPR; Guru Rewben Mashangva Gangmei; Aluna Kabuini Kabui folk artist; and Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, Secretary, MSFDS. During the festival, six feature films, two documentaries, 14 short films, and one animation film will be screened. More than 16 national guests, 27 state delegates, and representatives from five tribal film forums and associations are attending the festival. It will be the platform for master classes, panel discussions, and “In-Conversation” sessions by filmmakers and cultural experts along with networking and cultural exchange. Mizo film titled Mi Bo will be the opening film which will screen 5pm at MSFDS this evening.
