National Road Safety Month observed; Awareness programme for senior citizens held in Parbung

The District Administration of Pherzawl today observed the National Road Safety Month, 2026 at Parbung, Thanlon Sub-Divisional Headquarters and Sinzawl, organising a series of awareness programmes and public rallies to promote safe road behaviour. The observance was held under the theme “Road Safety, Life Safety”
The programme was organised jointly by the District Administration, District Police and the District Transport Office (DTO). Leading the event at Parbung village, SDO Parbung Zousanglur Joute emphasised the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations, urging residents to practise responsible road behaviour to ensure the safety of all road users. He also warned that traffic violations would invite penalties as per existing laws.
As part of the observance, officials and participants took the Road Safety Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to safer roads. Road safety pamphlets and stickers were distributed among the public, while posters and hoardings were installed at strategic locations to raise awareness among commuters and pedestrians.
Similar awareness programmes were held at Thanlon and Sinzawl, attended by police officials, residents and village authorities, highlighting collective responsibility in preventing road accidents. The month-long road safety campaign aims to strengthen public awareness and encourage safer driving practices across the district.
