National Cleanliness Day/Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024 was widely observed in Kakching district today. The District Administration Kakching observed the day with a social service and tree plantation programme at the DC Complex, Kakching district.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohit Anand, IAS and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) M Kapajit led the social service and tree plantation. Several saplings were planted by district administration officials around the DC Office Complex. Officials and staffs of various departments under the District Administration Kakching actively participated in cleaning their offices as part of the event. The observance was also attended by the officials and staffs of District Administration Kakching, District Level Officers Officers, staffs of various departments of Kakching district.
Also, the Kakching Police, under the initiative of Superintendent of Police (SP) Th. Vikramjit Singh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) AK Premjit and Officer-in-Charge T. Rameshwar, organised a social service at SP Office Kakching and Kakching Police Station, as part of celebration of National Cleanliness Day/Swachh Bharat Diwas 2024, which is observed to promote cleanliness and hygiene across the country.
Officials of the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) and BSF personnel stationed at DC Office Complex Kakching also observed the day. Similar event was also conducted by officials and staffs of Sub Treasury Office, Kakching, Government Industrial Training Centre, One Stop Centre, Zonal Education Office, Kakching, Kakching PHE Division among others.
Meanwhile, floral tributes were paid by the officials of the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) on the occasion of 155th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on culminating day of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 campaign, which is a part of Swachh Bharat Mission. This year marks the completion of 10 years of the launch of mass movements for cleanliness – the Swachh Bharat Mission.
At a function held at the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) office complex hall, the officials and staffs including KMC caretaker chairperson, Naorem Sanjitkumar and Senior CEO Laishram Romesh took pledge reaffirming and committing to the belief of Mahatma Gandhi that cleanliness was essential for physical well-being and a healthy environment. Also, the call was echoed to jointly work together to promote a cleaner and greener environment for the generations to come. On the occasion, safety gears and PPE kits were distributed to the sanitary workers as a mark of respect for their commendable job by the KMC officials.
Apart from it, Special Gram Sabha was also held at Pallel GP as part of Swachhta Hi Seva 2024 under Kakching PHE Division.
