National and international awardees of Samata Sahitya Academy felicitated

Samata Sahitya Academy Manipur Pradesh today organised a felicitation function for the national and international awardees, 2015 at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Attending the occasion as chief guest, K Sarat Singh, MLA of Konthoujam constituency said that the state being in conflict zone, various crimes occur in the state. And if any individual tries to speak up face lot of threats but the art form has the power to put it across to the people. And hence, Sarat added that all the wrong doings happening in the society can be corrected through this art form.
Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, IK Muivah, IPS said that there is various performing arts similar to Shumang Leela and is known worldwide. However Shumang Leela is famous throughout for its uniqueness since the art form portrays the replica of present situation of the society. He expressed that Shumang Leela could become more successful if the contents could be added with more of education and entertainment.
Chairperson, Samata Sahitya Academy, Manipur, Wareppa Naba said that the felicitation function is to felicitate the national and international awardees of the state who had received the awards on May 23 held at Baba Ambedkar Bhavan in Pune.
