Sixty members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) and members of NSCN (I-M) are scheduled to hold a meeting on August 26.
According to a report appeared at Nagaland Post, a senior legislator disclosed that an invitation was sent to NLA Speaker on August 19 inviting all the sixty legislators to a meeting on August 20 at NSCN (I-M) designated camp, Hebron.
The legislators also disclosed that the NLA Speaker had to decline the invitation as it was a short notice since all the legislators were not at the station.
After consultation, the senior legislator said that the legislators agreed to meet NSCN (I-M) on August 26 at Chumukedima Police Complex. In this regard, a notification will be issued to all sixty legislators by NLA Speaker added the senior legislator. The proposed meeting will be an effort for an interaction between the two sides and also an opportunity to put forward views.
After signing the Accord on August 3, 2015 the NSCN(I-M) general secretary Th.Muivah retuned to Dimapur on August 12 where he spoke on the need for all other NPGs to come together for a final solution. Muivah had also addressed the 69th Naga independence day at Hebron where he said if Nagas failed to grab the opportunity this time it would be a loss for the Nagas.
It may be mentioned that NSCN (I-M) will be holding a “Consultation on the Indo-Naga Peace Accord” on August 25 with various tribal hohos and civil society groups. However, Sumi Hoho along with other Sumi frontal organisations have turned down the invitation citing that December 21 and its subsequent incidences were still to be resolved.
