Nagaland govt asks NSCN-IM to clarify on highway levy

Imphal, June 19: The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland asked the NSCN (IM) to clarify on reports and allegations that its members were involved in ‘tax’ demands with regard to the National Highway 4 lane project between Dimapur and Kohima. A press note the ACAUT media cell,
asked the NSCN (IM) to provide an appropriate reply within 3 days from the issue of this note yesterday. The ACAUT also asked both Maytas-Gayatri and the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers
Union not to stop their works under any circumstances and ensure that this life line road for Nagas is not jeopardized. Further, it urged the Nagaland State Government not to remain a mute spectator and at least assure the Naga public that works will not be affected by giving press release to the effect. Meanwhile, the ACAUT called upon every citizen of Nagaland to safeguard and ensure that no hindrances are given for swift completion of the 4 lane road. The ACAUT further appealed to the Nagaland National Political Groups Working Group to give a public undertaking to the people of Nagaland that the 4-laning works under AH-1, Nagaland sector, shall not be disturbed by taxation demands under any circumstances.
