This is with regard to recent news report by Imphal Times on 20th November, 2018 about the 55th Nagas’ Meet Delhi organized by Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD). The Union seeks to clarify to all concerned regarding a press statement issued by a correspondent about the Fashion Show at the event mentioned as “choreographed & directed by Mr. Harshit Dhingaun from Delhi Fashion Club at 55th Nagas’ Meet Delhi” was completely and entirely baseless. The Union hereby clarifies that it has no connection with a certain Mr. Harshit Dhingaun, Delhi Fashion Club and or its members. The Union further seeks to clarify that Mr. Harshit Dhingaun has not invested anything for the Nagas’ Meet fashion show nor was he a solicitor neither an invited guest. It may be mentioned that in the past also few reports have come from the Naga Community of his conduct of leveraging from the Naga people and platforms for his vested interest.
The Union would like to reiterate that it organizes an annual gathering every year with a vision to provide a platform for young and upcoming talented designers/artistes from the Naga Community to promote, empower and strengthen their capacities and nurture talents. This year, the platform was allotted to 7Line Creation & Mai Collection. Amidst the claims of Mr. Dhingaun as being active participant of the event particularly the fashion show, the 7Line Creation and Mai Collection approached the NSUD to clarify the non-involvement of Mr. Harshit, Delhi Fashion Club in any way concerning this event.
Therefore, the Union strongly condemns such an unauthorized use of organization’s name by defaming the particular group and seizing the credit for an individual’s vested interests and calls for a stringent action to be taken on the part of the individual.
Furthermore, the Union seeks to call upon all other NSUD Units to ensure vigilance over such person(s) or entities engaging in unseemly controversial matters, events, or platforms for their personal interests now and in future.
