The Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) has strongly condemned the killing of two unarmed Naga civilians and injuring three others in a reported ambush at TM-Kasom village in Ukhrul district along National Highway-202 on April 18.
In a statement, the Naga Scholars’ Association described the attack as a premeditated and brutal act carried out using sophisticated weapons, and called for widespread condemnation across communities. It said the incident raises serious concerns about the prevailing security situation, alleging that anti-social elements continue to operate freely, posing a threat to civilian lives.
The NSA also expressed concern over what it termed as a growing sense of insecurity among Naga communities, stating that such incidents reinforce perceptions of neglect and vulnerability.
Calling the killing a stark reminder of the deteriorating security environment, the association urged the authorities to take immediate and stringent measures to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The NSA further conveyed solidarity with the bereaved families and reiterated its commitment to justice, peace and the protection of human dignity.
