Imphal, March 11:
The Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) marked its 12th foundation anniversary with a series of events held at its General Headquarters, Battalion, and Station locations. The program was attended by key MNPF leaders, including Chairman John Francis Kashung, Home Secretary SP Kanmi, Defense Secretary Ruichumhao, and Publicity Secretary Thomas Numai.
The event witnessed revolutionary salutes paid to the departed souls who sacrificed their lives for the movement, followed by reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to its cause. Addressing the gathering, Chairman John Francis Kashung extended greetings to all allied revolutionary groups in Manipur and the wider WESEA (Western South East Asia) region. He reiterated that MNPF remains steadfast in its pursuit of an independent Manipur, free from Indian rule.
In his speech, the Chairman elaborated on the party’s stance, stating that MNPF was formed to challenge Indian occupation in Manipur and the surrounding region.
He accused Indian forces of suppressing the indigenous people, asserting that India has systematically attempted to integrate the region into its fold without acknowledging its distinct identity. He emphasized that Manipur is a state formed through different ethnic groups, and any attempt to divide it will not be tolerated.
The MNPF leader also strongly opposed the demand for a ‘Separate Administration’ by certain groups, calling it an unjustified and misleading narrative. He urged to reject such demands stressing that unity among indigenous communities is crucial. He warned that those looking towards New Delhi for solutions would ultimately be disappointed, as true liberation can only come from within.
The event concluded with a call for unity among all revolutionary groups in Manipur. The MNPF urged fellow organizations to align their efforts and engage in a collective struggle against what it described as continued Indian dominance.
