The military regime of neighbouring Myanmar country is still tight lip over the brutal killing of two Indians inside their territory on July 5, despite repeated appeals to hand over the corpses to their respective families. Even as the top officials of the government of Manipur including the IGP of the state police is stationed at Moreh and trying all effort to calm the anger of the victim’s families and relatives, no official words have been issued to the Government of Myanmar from the side of the External Affairs Ministry of the government of India.
Tension erupted on the Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh after two Indian Tamil youths – Mohan (28years), S/o Late Perumal of Moreh Ward No.2, and M. Iyarnar (35 years), S/o Murga, both residents of Moreh Ward No. 4, Tengnoupal district, Manipur were brutally killed in Tamu town of Myanmar on July 5. No official intimation in connection with the brutal killing has been made by the Myanmar authority till today.
As reported by our Moreh Correspondent, there are no confirmed reports on whether the two dead bodies had been disposed of or not by the Myanmar authority.
Since the day of the incident, life in Moreh town has been crippled with protests from the people. The irate people even cross the border to show their anguish and reportedly burnt a barrack of the Myanmar military in the aftermath of the incident.
Top officials of the state police including DIG Range II, and the Tengnoupal SP, who had rushed to Moreh following the incident along with other police personnel are still camping in Moreh town controlling the anger of the people.
Meanwhile, Manipur government officials including the Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal district Mannuamching (IAS) along with the other state government officials and leaders of the Civil Society organisations based in Moreh town today visited the families of both the victims at Moreh Ward No. 2 at around 9 am. The DC shared the pains and sorrow of the two families and assured all possible help from the government.
Later, a meeting of all communities residing in border town Moreh was held today at the conference hall of Tamil Sangam Moreh.
Earlier, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had stated that his government has communicated the incident to the Indian Embassy at Yangoon and the latter had given a positive response.
