MUTA declines CM’s invitation for talk

Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA) has declined the invitation of Manipur Chief Minister to hold talk over the issues of Manipur University. The invitation was sent to the authority of the MUTA by the Secretary to the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Geoffrey base on a statement given by President of MUTA I Tomba during a panel discussion at NE Live TV on September 27, 2018.

The MUTA said that talk between them and government may be possible on the ground that if the arrested faculty members and students are released without any condition and also by withdrawing the FIR lodged against the members of the University Community. The MUTA also stated that how could they hold meeting with the government when the faculty members, staffs and the students are being chased.

“Stop the dodging and arrest of the teachers, staffs and students; remove all the security forces from the Manipur University campus, then we may consider talking “, a MUTA representative told Imphal Times.
