MU Vice-Chancellor visits examination centres amidst protest by students in MU

Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University visited Ghanapriya Women’s College, Imphal and Dhanamanjuri College of Science, Imphal. The team inspected the examination centres of both the colleges amidst protest by students of Manipur University.
In his visit to these colleges, the Vice-Chancellor had interactions with
teaching faculties on academic development. Later, he also had discussions with the principles of the colleges with regards to the progress of examination work.
Stressing on the importance of examination in academic career of students, Vice-Chancellor stated that ‘fair examination’ is one of the core values of quality education. By evaluating the examination results of students, teachers
can gauge how well the students could understand the teachings in the classrooms. It is high time to do a systemic analysis of examination results and find out the correlations of the factors affecting in our quality education.
Examination is not only a means to test the knowledge of students but also the standard of teachings being imparted to the students, he added.
Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey also emphasised that the evaluation of the answer scripts should also be started soon so that the results may be published in time.
In connection with the prevailing academic atmosphere in the University, Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey has appealed to the Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) not to propagate false news among students, community and also not to disturb the ongoing examinations of the University. MUSU should also cooperate with the university administration for larger interest of the students, he added.
