MU students refutes Chancellor statement

MU Students taking shelter in a relief camp condemned the statement made by Vice Chancellor of Manipur University at a local media that the students who have been vacated from the hostel have been provided shelter at guest house.Among 130 students who have been taking shelter at the relief camp at Heijigang Ema Keithel Thonju Part – 2, Yengkhom Bandana of the English Department said to media persons that the statement made by VC of Manipur University that they have been provided shelter to stay at MU Guest house was incorrect. Bandana said if they have been provided a place to stay in the guest house why will they stay at a relief camp. She added that 6 students got serious injuries while during agitation. The locals of Thongju Part-2 have provided shelter to 130 students who have been asked to vaccate the hostel In the evening of 06th August. She further said that last night at 11.30 pm some armed persons came at the relief camp and threatened them to shoot tear gas.Condemning the incident MUSU-RDC will submit a memorandum to the concerned authorities demanding immediate suspension of VC and Registrar of the University.
