MU in dire straits – Part 7 Manipur University fails to clear 4 months pay for staff of a Centre under PM initiative

The Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Manipur University has been facing terrible challenges as the salaries of the staff were denied for four months on the ground that UGC had not released funds for the center.

A source with Imphal Times, however, said that UGC regularly release funds for the center every six months. However, for reason best known to the Manipur University authority staff of the  Centre for Manipur Studies which was abolished a year back by the UGC and had stopped funding continue to enjoy monthly salary, a source said.

The Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy is under the initiative of the PMO which studies the plan and policy of the disadvantaged groups and to analyze and review the studied works of literature regarding Social Exclusion and discrimination in India especially North-East (Manipur). It also aims to create awareness at every level and areas to empower the marginalized section of our society.

According to a reliable source, the salaries were not paid for the last four months denying on the ground that no fund is coming from the UGC. But the reality seemed to be different as the pay bills for the center for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive have not been sent though they are supposed to be sent for every six months.

Our source also confirmed that the Sanctions for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy Centre have been coming regularly.

The source further highlighted that the Centre for Manipur Studies of the University which was abolished a year back still gets their salary till now.
