MU Deans resigned under pressure – VC; says he comes to serve the University and will not resign

Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey today said that he will not resigned from the post as he came to serve the University.

Talking to reporters for the first time after 25 days of impasse in the Manipur University the VC said that there are no demands from the students body, everything put against me are false allegations and I will clarify them.

On the matter of the resignations of Deans, Prof. Pandey said that the five deans are forced to resign under pressure.

He said that many students and teachers are in support of him and those making notice are some groups of students.

Regarding the allegation about his stayed in the Manipur University as well as outside the state and the expenditures. Prof. Pandey said that he went outside the state for University related matters . When asked to provide the white paper of his stayed and out of station and also regarding the expenditure, the VC fails to provide the information but said that he will provide every details. Pandey however refuse to give the dateline of providing the information.

Regarding installation of smart class equipments , Pandey said that there was no irregularities to the awarding of the supply works and all Head of departments had been inform to consult about it. Pandey however refuse to give a direct answer on whether there was an official circulation to consult over the matter with the head of departments.
