MSPDCL fails to provide alternative arrangements despite provisions

IT News
Imphal, Sept. 29:

In what can only be termed as a clear example of misplaced priority by elected representatives of the people whose sworn duty is to protect and serve the public, a large number of households within greater Imphal area have been left without electricity for almost a week now with no certain words on when exactly power will be restored to the inconvenienced households from any official quarters after the power transformer supplying electricity to the area blew out on 24th of this month. What is more unfortunate is that the area under IED-III, Kakwa has been reeling under the blackout without any evident effort from the MSPDCL or the elected representative to provide for an alternative arrangements to relieve the residents of the area even when Trolley-Mounted Transformers which are to be utilized for such contingencies have been acquired by the MSPDCL under Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP)- Part B. The state government and its functionaries including the departments/corporations and elected representatives should first provide and ensure for such basic requirements before announcing mega plans and start dreaming about Smart City as a city without electricity cannot be very smart.
