MSPDCL announces temporary power shutdowns

The Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has announced that temporary power interruptions will be carried out in parts of Imphal West during the replacement of existing bare 11 kV conductors with Medium Voltage Covered Conductors (MVCC).

In a public notice issued today, MSPDCL said the shutdowns are necessary to facilitate the safe execution of infrastructure erection, conductor stringing and commissioning works under its distribution network improvement programme.

The utility stated that details of the affected areas and shutdown schedules will be notified separately through the concerned division and sub-division offices, official communication channels, and on its website.

According to MSPDCL, the MVCC system is expected to improve the reliability and quality of power supply, reduce outages caused by vegetation and external contacts, enhance public safety by lowering the risk of accidental electric shocks, minimise line faults and technical losses, improve resilience during adverse weather, and reduce maintenance requirements.

MSPDCL appealed to consumers to cooperate during the implementation of the project and regretted the inconvenience caused by the scheduled power interruptions.
