MSCW conducts fact-finding inquiry into woman’s death

The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has constituted a fact-finding team to investigate the death of Thokchom Ongbi Chingtham Ningol Matouleibi Devi (40), wife of Th. Tomba Singh of Malom Makha Leikai, who was found dead in a community pond at Malom Makha Leikai on March 7, 2025.
On March 10, 2025, the team, led by the MSCW Chairperson and three members, conducted a spot inquiry. They held separate meetings with the family members of Th. Tomba Meitei at his residence and the deceased woman’s parental family at Chagnangnei Mayai Leikai to hear their statements. The team also carried out a thorough inspection of the pond where the woman was found dead.
For further investigation, the Commission has sought a status report from the Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur District.
