President of the Manipur Peoples’ Party (MPP) Sovakiran today castigated Congress party for misleading the people in the name of welfare scheme. He said almost all the welfare schemes being taken up during congress rule are the dream of the Gandhi Family.“Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi did not dream about Manipur, so they had not taken up any welfare programme for the state,” Sovakiran said. Highlighting the present status of Imphal Jiri road and other Sovakiran said that it is the result of the congress rule.Regarding the Hiyanglam constituency by election Sovakiran said that congress can no longer fool the people.“We had given a lot to the Congress party and in return they give us AFSPA”, said the MPP president.The MPP has been fielding its candidate Amuthoi in the By Election of Hiyanglam Assembly constituency scheduled on October 17.Campaign for the election ended at 5 pm today however, almost all candidates had ended their campaign yesterday in view of the general strike called by CorCom.Menwhile the MPP appealed the Election Commission to take a close watch over the use of mobile phone with camera inside the polling both. Vice President of the Political Party Ajit said that there are remours about cash award for those voter who could bring out a picture while casting vote inside the pooling booth. It should be checked to ensure free and fair election Ajit added.
