Imphal, March 17: Manipur People’s Party (MPP) strongly opposed the bill passed by state government on Monday and said the bill is nothing but a post creation of directorate.
Addressing a press conference today at its head office near Polo Ground, MPP, President, N. Sobhakiran said that the bill passed by the state government on Monday, alternative to Inner Line Permit System did not reflect any points suggested by the experts of the Committee on ILP; Rk Manisana, Rishang Keishing and various other legal experts. He said that the act is nothing but a post creation of directorate. The Indian Prime Minister Naredra Modi had said that constitution is their religion however, Sobhakiran added that constitution exist for the people. He appealed the Manipur governor to not accept the proposed bill of the Chief Minister and amend it with interest of the people of the state.
During the press meet, Ojit also shared the experience of recent visit of a team of MPP members. He said that the team had interacted with the villagers of various villages of indo Burma border. In the interaction the team learnt that the villagers are still in apprehension of losing their ancestor’s land due to the border fencing which is termed as security fencing by the government. MPP will not negotiate with anyone in such critical issues like the territorial boundary of the state.
