A team of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee led by CLP Leader and MLA Keisham Meghachandra visited the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences on Thursday morning to assess the condition of those injured in the recent Litan incident in Ukhrul district and to extend support to the victims.
Speaking to media persons during the visit, Keisham Meghachandra said the government must take full responsibility for the incident, describing it as serious and unfortunate. He expressed concern over what he termed the government’s silence, stating that lack of response in such situations could deepen fear and mistrust among the public.
The Congress leader called for immediate steps to ensure justice for the victims and urged the authorities to adopt concrete measures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents. He also conveyed prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and strength to their families.
Appealing for peace and unity, he stressed the importance of restoring normalcy and urged people to rise above community divisions, calling for a collective identity as Manipuris.
Other Congress leaders who accompanied him during the visit included Woupam Raikhan, T Loken Singh, Md Wahidur Rahaman, N Helendro Singh and N Bupenda Meitei.
