MPCC President Meghachandra dubs PM Modi’s visit ‘meaningless’

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Keisham Meghachandra today described the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state as a “mere symbolic visit” that lacked any concrete roadmap for peace, rehabilitation, and justice for the people.
Meghachandra said that the people, including internally displaced persons living in relief camps for months, had expected a meaningful initiative. Instead, Meghachandra termed the visit “a show-off and hollow,” noting that it would have carried significance if it had been directed towards ensuring peace and justice through dialogue with all stakeholders.
He further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party has failed to address the prevailing situation in the state. Citing reports of public discontent, Meghachandra referred to incidents in Churachandpur where locals reportedly destroyed banners and cutouts related to the Prime Minister’s visit.
The MPCC president maintained that there has been “no genuine attempt to restore peace or ensure free movement,” reiterating that the Prime Minister’s visit bears no relation to bringing justice or healing the state’s ongoing crisis.
