MPCC condoles demise of veteran congress leader Ahmed Patel

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee expressed deep sorrow on the demise of veteran Congress Leader Ahmed Patel M.P (Rajya Sabha), the Treasurer of All India Congress Committee.
In a condolence meeting chaired by the MPCC President Moirangthem Okendro held at Congress Bhavan,B.T Road Imphal at 3p.m yesterday, the Congress Legislative Party Leader Okram Ibobi Singh stated, “It is a great loss for us that someone irreplaceable like him has gone too soon. Many a time, he was elected in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha but he was always noble and simple. Because of his simplicity, he not only earned respect from his party but also from other political parties.”
The former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh sharing his grief further wished to give strength and fortitude to the family members of Ahmed Patel to bear the irreparable loss.
The condolence meeting was also attended by CWC member Gaikhangam, K. Ranjit Singh MLA , A.K Mirabai Devi MLA, office bearers and other working members of the MPCC.
Ahmed Patel who was born on 21st August 1949 at Bharuch in Gujarat represented the State for 8 terms in the parliament of India- 3 times in the Lok Sabha (1977 -1989) and 5 times in the Rajya Sabha (1993-2020). He was also the treasurer of AICC (2018-2020). He was a political secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. He passed away this morning due to multiple organ failure, more than a month after he tested positive for Covid-19 .He was 71.
A two-minute silence was observed during the meeting which will be followed by flying a half-mast flag for three consecutive days to show due respect in this hour of bereavement.
