In a pivotal move to strengthen grassroots development and ensure transparency in government schemes, the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC/DISHA) meeting for Ukhrul District was held today at the DRDA Training Hall, Mini-Secretariat, Ukhrul. The meeting was chaired by MP (Outer Manipur), Alfred Kanngam Arthur, who is also the chairman of the DISHA Committee.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Asish Das, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, who highlighted that the core objective of the DISHA platform is to ensure transparency, accountability, and synergy among departments implementing Central government schemes. He urged all line departments to keep their presentations concise and focused.
A total of 27 key line departments—including PWD, PHED, ZEO, PMGSY, Minor Irrigation, Medical, Electricity (MSPDCL), ICDS, Social Welfare, Handloom & Handicrafts, Agriculture, Forest, NHIDCL, Relief & Disaster Management, and others—presented PowerPoint summaries of their activities over the past seven years. Each presentation showcased their achievements, ongoing projects, and the hurdles encountered in execution.
MP Alfred Kanngam Arthur took a detailed review of each department’s report and reminded all present of their duty to serve the people with diligence and purpose. “Public welfare schemes must not remain on paper,” he said, stressing timely execution and delivery of benefits to the grassroots. The MP emphasized the need for enhanced coordination, active fieldwork, and commitment to bridging developmental gaps in the district.
He further assured all stakeholders of his continued support and intervention, wherever necessary, to resolve bottlenecks and ensure smoother implementation of developmental initiatives.
The daylong review meeting concluded with the announcement that the next DISHA meeting will be held in September, setting the tone for continued evaluation and monitoring of public welfare programs in Ukhrul District.
