Motivation of teachers, constant evaluation key to progress of School Education : N . Praveen, Director

Imphal, July 13: The Manipur Education (S) department is planning to overhaul the school education system and improve level of teaching and students according to N. Praveen , Director , Education (S) department, Government of Manipur while addressing the press conference at the DIPR Manipur premises  here today. The results of the activities taken up by the government will take some time to be visibly seen however the shortage of teachers faced by the department has been filled up gradually.
He further said the teachers were facing problems related to promotion and other matters which affected the teaching hence a comprehensive programme has been initiated to motivate the teachers . The Directorate has thirteen zonal education offices, six in hill and seven in valley districts.    There are seven  offices of the Deputy Inspector of Schools – two in valley (Moirang&Lilong) and five  in hills(Saikul, Moreh, SaituGamphajol, Henglep and Tamei) which are functioning more or less independently.
The Department provides  cooked food under Mid-Day-Meal Scheme with emphasis on providing nutritional support to the children in Primary and Upper Primary Schools. To provide quality education programmes under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is taken up as envisaged by the RTE Act.
It is continuing implementation of RMSA to continue efforts to achieve universalisation of secondary education by 2017 and full retention by 2020. The department works to create  ICT assets and pilot  e-governance plans to promote transparency and delivery of service.
The scheme has covered 2475 Primary, 717 Upper Primary attached with Primary and 177 Upper Primary without Primary Schools were covered till the end of December, 2015.
Random and surprise inspections carried out by the State MDM Team has enabled implementation o Mid-Day Meal scheme effectively. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against those teachers who failed to serve regular meals under the scheme.
To inculcate scientific temper and to create awareness of the rapid developments taking place in science, the Science Unit conducts Science Seminar, Examinations, State Level National Talent Search Examination, 2015 (for class X).
