Mother, daughter caught while stealing

A Mother and daughter were caught for allegedly stealing stuffs from a sacred place today at Singjamei Chingamathak.The incident took place today at 12.00 pm when locals heard some noise of breaking the lock of the holy place called as ‘Pishum Lairembi.’ According to the local people who were present during the incident, they saw four women breaking the lock and stealing stuffs and when they entered one of them ran away and three others have been caught. The three have been identified as Moirangthem Rina (40), w/o. M. Brojen of Luwangsangbam Mamang Leikai, their daughter, M. Bijaya (18) and Rina’s younger sister, Naorem Sobita (25), d/o. N. Giridhari. According to Rina, her daughter Bijaya is suffering from some illness which can be cured by Shaman. So she had contacted Ibeyai of Pishum to cure her daughter’s illness. Rina further said that her daughter saw a dream and informed her to take the knife from Pishum Lairembi and they conducted the incident under the leadership of Ibeyai. The priest who looks after the holy place, Nameirakpam Nillakanta said two knives, 2 necklaces made of Bangkok gold, 1 bangle, 1 ring, 1 earring and 1 Rani Fee are missing from the sacred place.
