Imphal, March 23: Morning joggers today rounded up a police head constable along with huge quantity of illegal drugs inside Khuman Lampak main stadium and later handed over to Imphal West Police station.
According to report the drug peddler has been identified as Okram Raju Singh. He serves as head constable of police telecom attached to 1st IRB posted at Khuman Lampak Sports complex.
According to a source, Okram Raju Singh was caught red handed peeling and stuffing SP and N-10 tablets into numerous polythene bags near the back gate of the hockey stadium. Accidentally a group of evening joggers spotted him and when check out of suspicion he was caught with the drugs.
As per his statement the police constable procured the tablets from the areas nearby Lilong police station.
Authorities suspects the cop to have been the main drug suppliers inside Khuman Lampak Sports complex which is home to many aspiring athletes, the National Sports Academy and SAI/SAG. It is also suspected that the person also supplies the drugs to women obscurity personnel of 1st IRB Mahila Battalion.
Okram Raju s/o (L) Okram Sunder Singh and Okram (O) Inaobi Devi from Thoubal Achouba Keithel Makha is a head constable of Manipur police telecom and was attached to 1st IRB posted at Khuman Lampak last year.
Raju said that the drugs were for his own consumption and did not reveal where he procured it from.
