More violence erupts in Imphal West: Kuki militants attack villages, two injured

Another wave of violence swept through periphery villages in the Imphal West district late last night as Kuki militants launched a brutal assault on the villages of Kangchup and Koutruk. Two individuals sustained injuries amid the violence, which rattled the already tense region.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, allegedly equipped with heavy weaponry, fired indiscriminately at residential areas of villages in the periphery between Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts. The indiscriminate firing targeted homes, inciting widespread panic and forcing residents to flee to safer areas.
The situation intensified as militants reportedly set fire to multiple houses and shops in Kangchup Chingkhong, a locality close to the Kangpokpi-Imphal West border. Flames engulfed several properties, leaving a trail of destruction and amplifying fears among the locals.
