Imphal, Feb 2:

Ima Ireima Monthly Allowance has been distributed to a number of 450 women who are above forty years of age residing in Singjamei Assembly Constituency this afternoon. The Distribution Ceremony was held at the residence of Oinam Romen Singh, Member, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) organised by the New Development Organisation Singjamei (NDOS), Imphal West District Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Oinam Romen Singh said that the Initiative is taken up by him in association with NDOS in view of providing some monetary help to the women folk residing within the Constituency. It is the same initiative announced by the State Government to provide a sum of 500 rupees per month to the women who do not get any benefit of the State Government under Ima Nongthangleima Scheme. He said that when the State Government announced to furnish relevant documents to avail the benefits, a number of 550 women of the Constituency, through his supervision, furnished the relevant documents to the Department concerned though, no benefit has been availed as of now who had registered through him. With a view to providing a sum of 500 rupees per month to such women, Ima Ireima Monthly Allowance has been initiated.
Romen Singh said that the Ima Nongthangleima Scheme initiated by the State Government is a good scheme. He hopes that the Government will provide the benefits to the beneficiaries.  Till the State Government provides the benefits, he, in association with NDOS, has decided to avail the benefits to the beneficiaries only for residing in Singjamei Assembly Constituency, Romen Singh assured.
Oinam Romen further said that as and when the State Government provides the benefits to the beneficiaries, the Initiative of IMA Ireima Monthly Allowance will stand cancelled. It will be automatically converted to the Government Initiative – Ima Nongthangleima Scheme. The Initiative introduced by him cannot compare with the Scheme of the State Government, it is done as an interim measure to provide something to the women folk residing in the Constituency and not to take any political mileage but just for some help, though different welfare measures will be initiated for the women residing in the Constituency. It is in the pipeline, Romen Singh contended.
Sarungbam Nabakumar, President NDOS, Kshetrimayum Ninita Devi, President, Singjamei Block. Congress Committee, Kakchingtabam Rajen and  Leishangthem Gyanendro Singh attended the function
