The Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) today observed the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day 2026 under the global theme “Light the Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act.” at the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal.
Project Director of the Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS), Angeline Recite R., IAS, attended the programme as chief guest, while Medical Superintendent of JNIMS, Dr. Kb. Lokeshwar Singh, graced the occasion as guest of honour. General Secretary of MNP+, Salem Udita Devi, presided over the function.
The observance was organised to pay tribute to those who lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses and to renew collective commitment towards strengthening awareness, prevention, treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Speakers at the programme highlighted the importance of eliminating stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and stressed the need for collective action to ensure accessible healthcare services and community support systems. They also called for greater awareness among the younger generation regarding HIV prevention and early testing.
