MMTA in trouble water, senior members allege fund misappropriation and irregularities in administration

Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) which has been playing stellar role in propagating outdoor education and inculcating the spirit of adventure among the youths of Manipur and North East region of India seems to be in trouble water with some of the senior members alleging foul play and misappropriation of fund by former office bearers of the association which they alleged to be null and void from holding the position any more.
In a meeting with media persons at Manipur Press Club today afternoon, one senior member of the MMTA identified as Suresh Laishram said that there are evidences of fund misappropriation by former President of the MMTA Dr. L. Surjit, Secretary Ph. Chandrakumar and treasurer Ng. Pobitra during their tenure and the fund misappropriation appeared to be in collusion with another former President of the MMTA, Bijoy Kakchingtabam. He alleged that Bijoy Kakchingtabam continue to hold the post of President of MMTA even though his term along with the executive committee members ends on April 22, 2021. However, Bijoy Kakchingtabam along with his executive committee continue to use their position and organized General body meeting on June 19, 2022 without giving any information to the Registrar for Societies.
Suresh Laishram further appealed authority to appoint founder president of the MMTA R.K. Ranendrajit to appoint as the Interim Council President when the investigation over alleged misappropriation of fund and foul play by the former president and office bearers of the MMTA.
