MLAs Salaries and Allowances likely to increase

Imphal July 11: Salaries and allowances of the Manipur Legislative Assembly is likely to increase after state cabinet today gave a green signal into the matter. At present salary of an MLA is rupees 18,500/- per month. And constituency allowance is rupees 12,000/- per month at present. Entertainment allowances for an MLA is rupees 6,500/- per month. Secretariat Allowances is rupees 15,000/- per month.Besides the allowances and pay, an MLA also enjoys various privileges for travelling abroad once in a financial year. The Speaker had approved a maximum ceiling of rupees 3,50,000/- as travelling allowance. Other facilities enjoyed by the MLAs are, 700 litres of petrol per month, 3000 litres of SK oil per month, electricity bill, salary for 8 staffs etc.Source close to the CM secretariat said that the cabinet meet may approve the proposal for increase of the salary and allowances for MLAs.The cabinet meeting begins from 3 pm today evening at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Other issue tabled during the cabinet meeting are preparation fo Budget Estimates for the year 2014-15, creation of temporary post of Officer on Specia; Duty (Home) in the IPS Above supertime HAG Scale of Rs. 67,000- 79,000 and proposal for adjustment to an equivalent post of E.O (Ind) in respect of I Nabachandra Singh, of the Commerce and Industries
